SPROUTED MOONG IDLIS
Thursday, April 24, 2008

Idlis, dosa are South Indian stable diet. But I gave a twist to the regular idli. So here is the special stuffed idils.

Sprouted Moong Dal Idli & Onion & Green Chilli Chutney

Preparation Time: 10 min (Excluding Fermenting Time)
Cooking Time: 20 min
Makes: 20 Idlis

Ingredients

½ cup sprouted Moog Dal (green)
½ Urad dal
1 cup Idli rice
¼ cup poha/rice flakes
Salt to taste

For Tampering

1.5 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 tsp chana dal
Crushed cashews

Method

Soak urad dal, rice differently in water for about 5-6 hrs. Soak moong dal in water overnight and then remove from the water and tie it in a cloth till you see sprouts in it.

Take all the soaked ingredients (except the rice) with moong dal and poha (wash poha in water till it becomes soft). Add it to the blender and make a very fine paste. Do not add too much water.

Then blend the rice very coarsely and mix it to the fine paste and mix properly. Add the tampering & add salt and keep it for fermenting overnight.

You can make idli either in Microwave or in traditional idli maker which takes to you good 20 min.

Serve hot with choice of chutney. This idli becomes soft.
